
Hema Mangeshkar, often known as Lata Mangeshkar, was an Indian playback vocalist and infrequent music composer.
She died on February 6, 2022. Mangeshkar is regarded by many as one of India’s greatest and most influential vocalists. Her eight-decade career in the Indian music industry earned her honorific titles like “Queen of Melody,” “Nightingale of India,” and “Voice of the Millennium.”
Although she mostly worked in Marathi, Hindi, and Bengali, Lata recorded songs in more than 36 different Indian languages as well as a few other tongues. She spoke English, Indonesian, Russian, Dutch, Nepali, and Swahili, among other languages.

Officer of the National Order of the Legion of Honor, France’s highest civilian honour, was given to her in 2007.
